The Clyn – About
The Clyn is a beautifully restored Welsh longhouse and barns set on ten acres beside protected land in the Elan Valley. Thoughtfully modernised with sustainable living in mind, it is a peaceful place to slow down – shaped by seasons, weather, and big Mid Wales skies.

The Clyn is a place shaped by nature and time.
Once derelict, the buildings and grounds were lovingly restored over many years by Jan and Dave Jenkins – with plenty of help from their two sons.
Their careful approach protected the property’s historic character while embracing sustainable, low-impact living. Traditional stonework, simple proportions and original features sit quietly within the landscape, supported by thoughtful renewable energy systems.
Set on ten acres and bordering protected land, The Clyn includes the original farmhouse – now The Cottage – alongside the main house, and the converted stone Granary. With fields, streams, gardens, orchards and open moorland all around, The Clyn offers guests a slower rhythm of life – where days follow the light, the weather and the seasons.
Today, Jamie and Sue Smith manage the cottages on behalf of the Jenkins family. Having stayed at The Clyn as guests for more than twenty years, they bring continuity, genuine care and deep respect for the property and for everyone who comes to enjoy it.
