The Clyn (OS grid reference SN934633) is 6 miles southwest of Rhayader. Rhayader is located in the very centre of Wales, at the crossroads of the main North/South (A470) and East/West (A44) trunkroads. It is about 2¼ hours drive from Birmingham and 4¼ hours drive from London & the Southeast.

Detailed directions to the Clyn

From Rhayader, take the B4518, signed to Elan Valley. After approx. 3 miles turn left, signed to Elan Village and Visitor Centre. Follow road over bridge (signed to Elan Valley Lodge), through village, over cattle grid and up short hill to T-junction. Turn right, follow road for about 1½ miles and to another cattle grid. About 500 yards after this, and immediately after a large lay-by, turn right between two stone walls. There is a wooden signpost high up on the bank on the left labelled ‘Clyn’ pointing to this right turn. Follow the tarmac road through the gate, up a long, steep hill, through the gate at the top and immediately turn left on a stone track, over two cattle grids, and you have arrived at the Clyn.
